鹽干濕試驗機主要用于戶外鹽污染的環境中材料的加速腐蝕試驗，本設備是最接近自然狀況，以自然環境中較常遇見之狀況加以模擬，以數倍于自然環境之苛刻條件加以自合測試，如鹽霧、干燥、濕潤、常溫靜置、等環境加以自合，可任意順序或單獨執行測試。與傳統試驗，如中性鹽霧試驗（NSS)、乙酸鹽霧試驗(AASS)、銅加速乙酸鹽霧試驗（CASS)相比，其最大優點在于它能更好地再現發生在戶外鹽污染環境下的腐蝕。
